Election 06
October 22, 2008
COMPLIANCE AGREEMENT I, Bev Shipley, (hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Party), of the City of Denfield, Ontario, acknowledge that subsection 443(1) of the Canada Elections Act prohibits a candidate from incurring election expenses in an amount that is more than the election expenses limit calculated under section 440 of the Act. I further acknowledge that the election expenses incurred in the 39th Federal General Election exceeded the limit calculated under section 440 of the Act for the electoral district of Lambton Kent Middlesex due to inadvertence and an honest misunderstanding of what constitutes an election expense. The campaign had election expenses of $83,785.85. The limit for the electoral district of Lambton Kent Middlesex was $79,323.86. The Contracting Party acknowledges and accepts responsibility for these acts. Prior to the conclusion of the agreement, the Commissioner of Canada Elections took into consideration that the Candidate's Electoral Return was filed on the basis of inadvertence and an honest misunderstanding of what constitutes an election expense under section 407 of the Act.
