Response from the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food
Over the summer, I held and discussions across our riding regarding Canada’s national food policy.
Canadian products are in high demand and are deemed the safest and highest quality in the world. The government needs to do more to promote the great products we produce in our riding. Our producers are global leaders in adopting the most thorough safety standards, the strictest environmental practises and utilizing technology to increase yields in order to feed a starving world.
What was most concerning to me was the government’s decision to conduct these discussion over the summer while many are on vacation and producers are harvesting crops. As a result, it was nearly impossible for the government to get a true perspective form the people who are most affected. This is why I held these discussions with the community. Below is the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food’s response.
