Andrew Scheer announces Tax-Free Home Heating

Wednesday, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer announced the next step in his plan to make life more affordable for Canadians. If Conservatives form government in October, we will remove the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from home heating and energy bills. This will save the average Canadian household $107 per year. At a time where Canadians are already paying high home heating and energy bills, Justin Trudeau’s Liberals have introduced a Carbon Tax which will increase the cost of everyday essentials like gasoline, groceries, and home heating. Again, a Conservatives will scrap the Carbon Tax and put money back in the pockets of Canadians where it belongs to help Canadians get ahead.

Conservatives Launch LetHerSpeak.ca

Sunday, Conservatives launched LetHerSpeak.ca, a website where Canadians can demand Justin Trudeau allow Jody Wilson-Raybould to speak fully and freely about the SNC-Lavalin corruption scandal.
Trudeau continues to silence Ms. Wilson-Raybould by refusing to waive solicitor-client privilege and cabinet confidence that would allow the former Attorney General to speak about why she resigned from cabinet.
The House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday to invite Ms. Wilson-Raybould to testify for a second time. That can only happen if the Liberals vote in favour.

China Blocking Canola Imports

Last Friday, Conservative MPs sent a letter to the Clerk of Agriculture and Agri-Food Committee calling for emergency meeting to discuss the Chinese government’s revocation of a Canadian canola company’s import permit, and the Canadian Government’s lack of action on the file.
In a retaliatory move, China has cancelled the canola import permit for one of Canada’s largest grain processors, Richardson International. The Chinese Foreign Ministry is citing fears of insect infestation as the reason for cancelling their canola import permit. Roughly 40 per cent of Canadian canola exports go to China. This issue is not about Canada’s canola product. Canada’s canola is recognized as the best in the world. Rather, this calls into question Justin Trudeau’s ongoing failure to handle Canada’s relationship with China. Canada’s agriculture producers continue to- pay for Justin Trudeau’s mistakes on the world stage. Canada’s Conservatives call on Justin Trudeau to intervene and stop these baseless actions against Canada’s agriculture sector.

Marijuana Pardons Legislation

Last week, the Trudeau government tabled Bill C-93, an Act to provide no-cost, expedited record suspensions for simple possession of cannabis. This Bill will make changes to the pardon process and waive the fee for Canadians with a past conviction of pot possession. In a rush to meet his self-imposed deadline, Justin Trudeau has failed to adequately address the many concerns of municipalities, law enforcement, employers, scientists and doctors about his cannabis legalization legislation. This includes ensuring that individuals with previous cannabis related convictions are treated fairly and in an orderly fashion.
We have serious concerns with the fact that the Liberals are making Canadian taxpayers pay the fee association with marijuana pardons. This could potentially cost the government $315 million in taxpayer dollars.

– Canada produces over 70% of the world’s maple syrup: Ontario alone produces approximately 1.5 million litres per year – and now multiply that by 40 for the amount of maple sap that had to be collected by Canadian Maple Syrup producers!
