I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended our post-budget discussion with MP Gary Goodyear, the Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev) at Amy’s Restaurant in Strathroy. We had a packed house and it was great to hear all the positive feedback from the business community and other individuals. The event also gave us the chance to highlight the government’s latest initiatives in Economic Action Plan 2014 to support jobs and growth, while returning to balanced budgets in 2015. Supporting the government’s priorities, FedDev Ontario has launched a series of funding initiatives. Over $530 million is available through the Southern Ontario Prosperity Initiatives, aimed at retaining, attracting and growing businesses in southern Ontario. Also, $200 million is available over 5 years through the Advanced Manufacturing Fund in Ontario to help manufacturers create jobs and compete with the rest of the world.
