National Day of Honour

I was proud to attend ceremonies in Parkhill and Strathroy on Friday. Thank you to all those who organized events and to everyone who participated in the National Day of Honour services, whether in your community, your home, or your place of work. We will remember them.

I have some very exciting progress to report on Prime Minister Harper’s global initiative, “Saving Every Woman-Every Child.” Click on the logo below to see my short video clip. You will be amazed and proud of what our country is accomplishing. Also, please take a moment to answer my one-question survey located directly under the video. Your input counts!

Temporary Foreign Worker Program

I was a little taken aback by Liberal/NDP efforts to pull the plug on the Season Agricultural Worker Program. As many of you know, (particularly if you farm) this part of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program is invaluable to our agriculture community. Without seasonal workers it would be very difficult if not impossible to get crops in the ground, harvested and shipped off to market.

March for Life

What a great turnout last week for the annual March for Life on Parliament Hill. I was pleased to meet with the thousands who gathered to share their message that life is sacred and worthy of protection. It was especially great to see such a large contingent from Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.

Did You Know?

-It’s National Nursing Week. We thank the incredible nurses who provide outstanding care across Lambton-Kent-Middlesex and right across the country!

-One in seven Canadians work in the agri-food industry. It’s amazing, considering less than 3% of Canadians live and work on farms.

-There are close to one million dairy cows in Canada and almost half a million dairy heifers. Holy COW!

Until next time,

Bev Shipley, M.P., Lambton-Kent-Middlesex
