Shipley Announces Student Summer Jobs Funding
May 17, 2013

STRATHROY, Ontario--Bev Shipley, M.P for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex says it’s as reliable as the turning of the seasons. School is winding up for another year, and students are looking for summer jobs.

Shipley has announced that 57 employers in LKM will receive a total of $236,744 to create 104 jobs ranging from working with the Chambers of Commerce, to promoting history at area museums to assisting in the development of new technologies in the agriculture industry.

Shipley says the Harper Government provides funding for not-for-profit organizations, community groups and small businesses to create summer jobs for full-time students who intend to return to their studies in the next school year.
"It’s a win-win-win solution," noted Shipley, adding, "Students gain the skills and experience they need to be successful in their future career paths and earn money for school while employers get extra summer help. As a result local economies grow stronger and more prosperous."

Shipley adds “creating summer jobs for students is important not only for our young people but also for our economic growth and long-term prosperity of Canada. Investing in our youth is investing in Canada’s future.”
