Wallaceburg -  Bev Shipley, MP Lambton-Kent-Middlesex says 90 area students will be employed this summer under the Government of Canada’s Summer Jobs Program.  Shipley noted 56 employers will share more than $235 thousand under the program.

“I am pleased to announce this funding which helps students in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex gain valuable work experience and earn money they can save towards their post-secondary education.”

Canada Summer Jobs
is a Government of Canada initiative that provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for students. It is designed to focus on local priorities, while achieving tangible results for both students and their communities.

  • Providing work experiences for students;
  • Supporting organizations, including those that provide important community services; and
  • Recognizing that local circumstances, community needs, and priorities vary widely.
Canada Summer Jobs is focused on encouraging not-for-profit organizations, public sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create jobs that not only meet their needs, but also benefit students looking to gain work experience.
