Shipley announces funding for Canada Day and National Aboriginal Day Celebrations
May 20, 2010

Ottawa - Bev Shipley, M.P. for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, today announced that funding totalling $22,900 will be released to eight municipalities and community organizations in support of local Canada Day and National Aboriginal Day celebrations.

Shipley noted that the celebrations on the Celebrate Canada calendar have become a tradition, providing Canadians the opportunity to share their pride in their country.  "The success of these celebrations is due, in great part, to the efforts of the volunteer members of the Celebrate Canada and National Aboriginal Day committees all across Canada."

Canada’s unprecedented success at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics this year provides an even greater reason to celebrate our great country.  The Games brought together Canadians from all across the country in support of our athletes, and the patriotic energy generated by the Games is bound to carry over into the traditional July 1st festivities.
