July 19, 2011

London, Ontario, July 19, 2011 - Local youth will have the opportunity to learn about career opportunities thanks to support from the Government of Canada.  Mr. Bev Shipley, Member of Parliament for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister or Human Resources and Skills Development.

“In today’s environment, it is more important than ever that young Canadians have the skills and information they need to participate and succeed in the job market,” said Mr. Shipley.  “Our government is proud to support activities like the Strathroy Career Fair that benefit both employers and youth.”

“The Strathroy Career Fair lets young people know that skills and training are important and creates opportunities for them to succeed,” Said Mr. Shipley.  “Our government recognizes just how important this type of event is to helping youth shape their futures.”

With assistance from the federal Youth Awareness program, Youth Opportunities Unlimited will organize the Strathroy Career Fair to provide youth with the opportunity to network with employers and receive information on education and employment options.  This year’s fair, scheduled for October, is expected to draw more than 500 visitors and will include information booths and speaker sessions delivered by exhibitors and experts from various industries and educational institutions.

Youth Opportunities Unlimited will receive over $29,000 in federal Youth Awareness funding to support the Strathroy Career Fair.
