FedDev Ontario supporting southern Ontario economic recovery

Komoka, Ontario — Bev Shipley, MP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, today announced that four projects throughout the Middlesex and Kent area will move forward thanks to an investment of more than $2 million from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to stimulate local economies.

“Our government is committed to immediate job creation and economic growth right here in Middlesex,” said MP Shipley. “We are providing funding for the development of local businesses and organizations because we understand the positive impact they have on our communities.”

“The recessionary pressures of the last 18 months have brought many businesses to CFDC’s door and this new financial support will enable this organization the opportunity to offer assistance to more SMEs,” said Tiny Van Pinxteren, President, CFDC of Middlesex County.

The following organizations will benefit from funding:

Recipient
Community Futures Development Corp. of Middlesex County

Project Title
Hire a Business Plan Developer and Business Development Intern to offer enhanced services to rural based SMEs.

Federal Investment
$1,100,000

These projects will be supported through the Community Adjustment Fund, a two-year, $1-billion national program aimed at addressing the short-term economic needs of communities hit hardest by the global economic recession. Approved projects must meet the terms and conditions set out in their contribution agreements.

FedDev Ontario was created as part of Canada’s Economic Action Plan to support economic and community development, innovation, and economic diversification, with contributions to communities, businesses and non-profit organizations in southern Ontario.
