GOVERNMENT COMMITS $252 THOUSAND TO MAKE LOCAL RAILWAY CROSSING SAFER

Komoka – Lambton Kent Middlesex M.P Bev Shipley today announced funding of more than $250 thousand to make safety improvements to the railway crossing at Middlesex County Road 16.

The announcement was made at the Komoka Railway Museum where Shipley was joined Treasury Board President John Baird and Elgin Middlesex London M.P Joe Preston. “I am pleased our government is making this public safety investment in my riding. This particular crossing has been a concern for several years and we are thankful that rail and community safety continues to be a priority for our government,” said Shipley.

Mayor Al Edmondson of Middlesex Centre said the announcement is welcome news for the residents of the area who have expressed concerns about the crossing for years. “It certainly will be an improvement to safety in the area.

The funding will be used to install gates, a Constant Warning Time Device and an Automated and Interconnection.
