Ottawa
- Yesterday Auditor General released her Fall Report on Canada’s Economic Action Plan which protected Canadian and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex families and workers from the worst global recession in generations. In doing so, Ms. Fraser praised our Conservative Government’s delivery of more than $40 billion of economic stimulus. Scores of projects in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex have received more than $100 million.
I believe it was essential for us to get the money out the door and shovels in the ground in a timely, efficient and effective manner — ensuring it created jobs and stimulated economic growth as soon as possible.
We did not want a repeat of the Liberal sponsorship scandal where millions of dollars were funnelled to Liberal-friendly firms for little to no work.
The Auditor General has confirmed that we were successful, reporting that our Government acted quickly and effectively in the design and implementation of the Economic Action Plan, noting that our government and departments were able to do in two months what normally take six months to implement.
While we welcome this positive report on our Government’s performance, it is important to remember that the economic recovery is still fragile because there are still too many families struggling to make ends meet. .
That is why we will continue to focus on creating jobs and supporting families through the implementation of the Economic Action Plan
