Buy Local – Buy Canadian Event Success

On Friday, September 17th, Bev Shipley and representatives of local commodity groups gathered at Parks Blueberries in Bothwell in an effort to encourage the public to buy local or Canadian produce whenever possible.

This Buy Local – Buy Canadian event featured several local commodity groups and organizations that understand the importance of supporting local producers.

Parks Blueberries owners, Bill and Diane Parks, hosted the event with the help of a number of residents who want to see local commodities thrive.

Attendees were served hamburgers made of locally produced beef and buns as well as delicious Parks Blueberries tarts.  Over 80 hamburgers were served.

Attending organizations displayed their products and dialogued about improving public awareness of the need to buy from local producers.
