As all of us get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank-you to all of my constituents in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex for your continuing support. I am truly blessed with a great family, many close friends and a job that I love and that’s due in part to the wonderful people in my riding, whom I have the privilege of representing.
On Thursday, January 31, 1957, the Canadian Parliament described Thanksgiving this way:
“A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed – to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October.” In our large and very rural riding, that description hits home for a lot of us; giving thanks for the harvest season.
Of course, Thanksgiving means many different things to different people. For many of us, it’s also a chance to gather around the table with our families to acknowledge our many blessings and a time to truly reflect on what is important in our lives.
Whichever way you choose to celebrate this weekend, I wish all of you a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving. Bev.
