Justin Trudeau Backs down to Donald Trump in NAFTA Deal

Last week Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced he had reached an agreement with President Donald Trump for the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA). While he said he wanted to negotiate a better NAFTA deal with President Trump, there is virtually nothing in USMCA that puts Canada in a better position. In fact, never in Canadian history have we ended a trade agreement with more tariffs on Canadians than when we started negotiations!

The 25% tariffs on steel and 10% on aluminum are still in place. The tariffs on soft wood lumber are still in place. The “Buy American” which shuts out Canadians from bidding on certain USA contracts is still in place.

Access to our dairy and poultry industries increased. Some will say worst of all is the giving up of our Canadian sovereignty to the USA by allowing them to potentially have veto power over certain Canadian legislative trade agreements. This is very concerning. The USA is measuring USMCA by what they have gained and Prime Minister Trudeau is measuring it by what he didn’t give up. I know some are saying I am glad it is over, but what a Trump economic advisor said is concerning – Canada gave very generously.

Family of Tori Stafford urges Prime Minister to transfer convicted killer from Healing Lodge

Earlier this month news broke that convicted child murderer Terri Lynne McClintic had been transferred from a medium security prison to a healing lodge after only serving eight years of her life in prison sentence. Rodney Stafford, father of eight-year-old Tori pleaded to the federal government to move her back behind bars. Last Wednesday, the Conservatives made a motion for the federal government to overturn this decision, which they have authority to do. Not a single Liberal MP in the House of Commons stood up for Tori and her family and the motion was defeated. Justin Trudeau had an opportunity to do what is right; instead he chose to hide behind bureaucracy and make excuses for this injustice. Dangerous child killers belong behind bars, and Conservatives will continue to fight for victims of crime and hold the Liberals to account for putting criminals first.

E-petition 1886 calls on the Liberal government to exercise its moral, legal and political authority to ensure that the decision to transfer convicted child murderer Terri-Lynne McClintic to the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge is reversed and cannot be allowed to happen again in other cases. No guarantee of arrest for returned ISIS Terrorists

A high-profile Canadian member of ISIS has been arrested by Syrian forces, while attempting to return to Canada. Mohammed Ali left Canada to join ISIS in 2014. He served as a sniper and used social media to encourage other to join ISIS and conduct terrorist attacks. Syrian forces want to hand Ali and a dozen other Canadians over to the RCMP, but the government says there’s no guarantee the ISIS fighters will face arrest upon their return. Conservatives believe anyone who takes up arms against Canada and our allies should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The security of Canadians should be paramount. We will continue to make sure Canadians are protected from those who would do us harm.
