Public Input for Budget 2015

The federal budget comes out every March and once again, I’m looking for your input! Pre-budget consultations are ongoing and I encourage the people, organizations and businesses of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex to let me know what you would like to see encompassed in Budget 2015. I will take your recommendations directly to the Minister of Finance for review. A booklet will soon be arriving at your door outlining the ways to make budget submissions. I’d love to hear from you.

Applications Being Accepted for Canada Summer Jobs

It’s time to start thinking about summer. The application process is now open for the Canada Summer Jobs program. This popular initiative provides funding for eligible businesses to create summer jobs for students between the ages of 15 and 30. You can submit applications online, by mail or in person at any Service Canada office. The application period ends January 30, 2015. Thank You For Your Service

The municipal elections ushered in some new faces to councils across Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. As new councils take over from the old, I’d like to thank any outgoing local politicians for their hard work, dedication and commitment over the years. I’d also like to take this opportunity to welcome new councilors aboard. Having served over 20 years at the local level before becoming a Member of Parliament, I can tell you first hand that public service can be incredibly rewarding. Make the most of it!

SAVE THE DATE for my Christmas Open Houses

But you can also just sit back and relax and enjoy some refreshments, festive treats and Christmas music. Hope to see you there.

Strathroy–Gemini Sportsplex–December 22nd from 4-6pm. Free skate 4-5pm.

Did You Know

-Our Conservative government’s measures have helped Canadians save close to $30 billion through tax cuts since 2006.

-One in five Canadian jobs depends on exports. That’s why our government is working so hard to strengthen Canada’s trade partnerships.

-Your kids or grandkids can write to Santa Claus and receive a letter back. Letters should be addressed to Santa Claus, North Pole, HOH OHO (Just make sure they mail them within the next couple of weeks!)

Until next time,

Bev Shipley, M.P., Lambton-Kent-Middlesex
